Information from the St. Matthews Farmers Market:

The St. Matthews Farmers Market will be located at 4124 Shelbyville Road.

Market Hours will be Saturday, 9 am - noon.

Parking is located next door behind the Ownes Medical Plaza. Enter the parking lot off Shelbyville Rd across from Thierman Lane.

This season, farmers markets are transitioning from community gathering spaces to transaction-based markets, or IN & OUT markets. St. Matthews Market volunteers are actively making operational and procedural changes to protect customers, farmers, and staff / volunteers and to mitigate the spread of disease, including following all guidance provided by the Kentucky Cabinet for Public Health (KCPH).

Market Flow: 

• Queuing to enter the market will be done along the market side of the parking lot according to social distancing guidelines. 

• Waiting spaces will be marked for patrons.

• All entrants to the market will be given a list of vendors, a market map and the rules of the market. 

• After the first 100 patrons arrive, patrons will only be allowed to enter once someone has exited, so as not to exceed the maximum number deemed to be safe. 

• These actions will allow Market Staff/Volunteers to police spacing of patrons in the market and those waiting to enter the market. 

• All actions will be done to maximize distancing and to keep patrons from gathering. 

Safety Considerations: 

• Kentucky Department of Agriculture Guidelines will be followed. 

• Visitors will be queued on one the side of the lot according to social distancing guidelines to enter the market. 

• There will be sanitizing and wash stations throughout the market to encourage patrons to sanitize their hands. Heaven Hill Distillery has donated sanitizer to the St. Matthews Farmers Market. Volunteers will help administer hand sanitizer. 

Rules for Market Patrons 

1. Patience & Flexibility – Be patient and flexible. 

2. Wearing a mask is required by Executive Order effective May 11, 2020. 

3. The idea is to get in and get out quickly. Please make your product choice decision quickly. 

4. Pre-order from your favorite Vendor – Ensures you get the product that you want as well. 

5. Wash and sanitize your hands before you arrive and when you leave. Utilize the hand sanitizing stations throughout the market. 

6. Keep your distance from others. Pay attention to the markings on the ground to enter the vendor’s space. Social distance. 

7. Know what you want when it is your turn to order. 

8. You touch it - you buy it! 

9. You must pay with a credit / debit card, exact change (or expect no change), Paypal or Venmo payment where accepted.
